Japanese police forces have been using 3D printing for about 3 years mostly to recreate crime scenes and weapons in 3D-printed, interactive models. Recently, they found a new use for the technology: sketch artistry aided by 3D printing ! The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department took a sketch of a wanted criminal, used a 3D printer to create a 3-dimensional model of his face, and after catching the guy, released it to ANN News.
