We have developed 3D laser sintering which will make your parts from aluminum, titanium and many other materials. Not exactly goodbye machine shop but possibly goodbye foundry...some day. For now we are able to apply 1 cubic inch of material per hour, which is a little slow but things tend to improve quickly. This is also being used in aftermarket auto parts. The 3D Printing Industry is coming to a car near you!
